Charges laid over knifepoint armed robbery of taxi driver in Bentleigh East

A MAN has been charged over two armed robberies, including one in which a taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint of his takings in Bentleigh East.

A MAN has been charged over two armed robberies, including one in which a taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint of his takings in Bentleigh East.

It’s alleged the man, brandishing a knife, robbed the driver as he sat in his car on Centre Rd just after 3am on February 16, and also robbed the United service station near Box Court about 5.15am on February 7 of cash and cigarettes.

Glen Eira Bayside crime investigation unit detectives have charged a Bentleigh East man, 24, with two counts of armed robbery.

He was remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on a later date.
