A Beaconsfield Primary School teacher has returned to court, facing child abuse allegations after eight years in the classroom.

Pakenham man Nicholas O’Shea fronted the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on February 8, facing serious child sex abuse charges.

The court heard the charges related to nine complainants, with some family appearing in court on Thursday.

The alleged offending is said to have occurred between August 25 and August 26 in 2023.

Mr O-Shea had worked as a classroom teacher at Beaconsfield Primary School since 2016, however, following being charged, the Victoria Institute of Teaching suspended him on an interim basis.

The court heard the matter needed more conferencing between the prosecuting agency and defence, due to the “complexity of the brief”.

Magistrate Nunzio La Rosa agreed and adjourned the matter to February 16 at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a filing hearing.
