Bargain retailer Dimmeys to shut its doors nationally
A much-loved retailer is shutting its doors across Australia, leaving thousands of people saddened by the decision. But shoppers can snare huge discounts on Christmas items, toys and baby clothing.

After 166 years of trading, one of Australia’s oldest retailers is shutting its doors nationally.
Dimmeys has announced it was shutting its doors offering 30 per cent off all of its stock.
The company, owned by Cool Breeze Clothing Pty Ltd, has more than 40 stores across Australia.
The much-loved bargain retailer, famous for its advertisements featuring Hawthorn football great Robert DiPierdomenico, did not reveal when stores would officially close, but thousands of people have taken to social media to express their disappointment.
Shoppers took to the Friends of Old Dandenong Facebook page, saying they were “saddened” by their local store’s closure as the longstanding retailer had been there for more than 20 years.
According to the company’s website, Dimmeys was first established in 1853, with the store offering items by companies as large as Calvin Klein, Bonds and Sheridan.
The company has long been known for its “no frills” approach on pricing for items such as clothing, food, manchester, toys and homewares.
To mark its closure, shoppers can snare discounts on Christmas decorations, toys baby clothing, stationery and more.

Dimmeys released a statement on its Facebook page on Tuesday, stating: “After 166 years one of Australia’s oldest retailers is closing down. All stock in store must go. Excludes already marked down items.”
