A brand new shopping experience is in the bag for the Karingal community as construction for a $160m fresh food and entertainment hub gets underway.

Exclusive images of what’s in store for the much-needed Karingal Hub makeover have been unveiled, showing off a reimagined town square with a dramatic open plan design and a brand new market-style food court.

Shoppers will be sold with a lively new catch-up spot which is set to spill out from the already popular Village Cinemas and feature a playground with vibrant alfresco cafes and restaurants.

The square’s modern landscape and warm design boasts twinkling fairy lights, stunning greenery and group seating, with the bustling food court showcasing a fine mix of culturally inspired culinary delights.

Aldi and Coles supermarkets will open alongside a reinvigorated Woolworths and join the existing Big W, with more exciting retailers to be announced over the coming months.

A whopping 550 new car spots will spread across a multi-level car park, carrying the number of free spaces to more than 2600.

The existing centre will also be refreshed and expanded with areas realigned to improve access and convenience.

Development services general manager Chris McCluskey said the reinvigorated town square would be the “beating heart” of the renewed precinct.

“The hub will be a place where parents can relax over a coffee while their children play, families can enjoy dinner and a movie and anyone in our community can enjoy a night out,” he told the Leader.

“This expansion makes Karingal Hub a local shopping destination.”

ISPT representatives advised that early works by Probuild required the closure and hoarding of some retailers within the centre including parts of the existing food court but that it would keep shoppers and retailers updated throughout the duration of the project.

“ISPT’s redevelopment will provide the local community with a new long-term sustainable asset,” said Mr McCluskey.

“(The hub’s) long-term position in market will be bolstered by the implementation of strong sustainable, environmental and community standards.”
