Arthurs Seat Eagle is set to soar once again after being placed into administration earlier this year.

The Mornington Peninsula gondola ride reopens to the public on Friday (December 4) following a soft launch over the weekend.

Part-owner Simeon McKeon said the tourist attractions had “reset” over lockdown after going into administration to iron out some longstanding issues.

Mr McKeon now owns 50 per cent of the business with equal shareholder Melbourne transport, logistics and property billionaire Peter Gunn and his family via their PGA Group Peter Gunn.

Confidentiality agreements prevented Mr McKeon from detailing the reasons behind the decision to place the business into voluntary administration in March.

At the time Mr McKeon said the decision was not related to the financial health of the business which he said had operated with a “positive cash flow from day one”.

On Monday he said he was excited about the future and had “significant plans” for the attraction.

“We have appointed a new chief executive officer and new chief financial officer,” Mr McKeon said.

The team had implemented COVID-safe practices to allow the ride to reopen after lockdown.

Each gondola would be thoroughly cleaned between rides and the cafe was only allowing take away food and drinks.

“We’re actually pretty lucky because the gondolas are well suited to the safety measures we have in place,” Mr McKeon said.

“People typically arrive in their own cars and ride together as a group of between two and eight,” he said.

The ride queue and the cafe were the only places different groups were likely to mingle and both had measures in place to encourage social distancing, he said.

The ride would operate with a limited daily capacity, timed flights and rides had to be pre-booked.

Tickets can be booked online.
