In amazing bird’s eye view footage captured by a police helicopter, one of three people involved in an alleged aggravated burglary in Melbourne’s inner southeast has been caught after dumping one of the luxury vehicles.

The man was among a group of people accused of stealing three prestige luxury cars from a Malvern address on February 16.

Investigating officers said multiple offenders used a rear window to access the home early on Thursday morning.

After allegedly discovering the car keys, they made off with the cars from the garage as the owners slept.

The three stolen vehicles were a 2016 Ferrari California, a 2015 Maserati Ghibli and a 2020 Porsche Cayenne.

The owners called police at 8.30am to report the theft after discovering the cars were gone.

Stonnington Police located the Ferrari later in the day after an air wing report of the vehicle being dumped at a Dandenong shopping centre’s car park.

The helicopter had followed one of the alleged thieves, a 17-year-old, who rode away on a stolen motorcycle.

The boy was later arrested by detectives and charged with allegedly committing aggravated burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving while pursued by police, and other alleged traffic offences.

The Porsche was also located via air wing at the same time, travelling on the Princes Hwy in Dandenong.

The air wing followed the car to another Dandenong shopping centre, where the driver was seen getting out and fleeing in another car.

Officers intercepted the driver on Clow St, Dandenong, where a 26-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman were both arrested.

The man was charged with alleged car theft, dangerous driving while pursued by police and other alleged traffic offences.

The woman was released pending further inquiries.

The Maserati remains missing and police have appealed for dashcam footage of it being driven erratically in the Dandenong, Waverley, or Malvern areas.

“Police believe there are several other offenders also connected to the theft of these vehicles,” a Victoria Police statement said.

“Local police are out in force every single night to prevent crimes such as burglaries,” Stonnington detective Sergeant Sean Schmizzi said.

“Specialist units such as the air wing, the public order response team and the dog squad are regularly used to help local police track suspicious vehicles or suspects in aggravated burglaries,” he said.

“While this work may go largely unseen by the community as it occurs when they are sleeping, these proactive patrols do not stop until the sun has risen.”

Witnesses are urged to contact CrimeStoppers if they have dashcam footage or information about this incident on 1800 333 000 or make an anonymous report online here.
