A Chadstone teacher accused of fraudulently teaching children has had her case delayed for the second time.

Chantelle Strohhecker was set to appear in the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on April 9 to face serious allegations of teaching without proper registration, but instead requested an adjournment through her lawyer.

The court heard there had been an ongoing “factual dispute” between Ms Strohhecker and the Victorian Institution of Teaching, revolving around whether she was permitted to teach children.

The Institute has alleged Ms Strohhecker was not a registered teacher at the time of the alleged offences and therefore was breaking the law.

Ms Strohhecker’s lawyer, Kejsi Hoxha, said her client disagreed.

Ms Strohhecker will return to Moorabbin Court for a contest mention in June.

“She says she did have permission from the school to teach,” Ms Hoxha said.

“The charge quotes the Act, which refers to a person who does not have registration or permission; Ms Strohhecker has instructed that she did have permission.”

Magistrate Rob Stary agreed to adjourn the matter further, saying if it continued as a contest mention, Ms Strohhecker had to attend in person.

“Members at the Victorian Institute of Teaching as well as the person who engaged in contract with Ms Strohhecker may be required to give evidence,” he said.

“A summons has now been issued and she will be required to appear in person on the next date.”

Ms Strohhecker is set to return to Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on June 18 for a contest mention.
