A SMILING would-be burglar has cut a CCTV camera wire thinking it would stop him from being seen.

When he couldn’t get into the Lantana Dr home, he cut the security camera’s wire and smashed a garage window.
But his plan backfired and police have now released CCTV footage of the man they believe will be assist with their investigation.
Victoria Police media spokeswoman Natalie Butler said the man failed to get into the house and left empty-handed.
“He’s described as aged between 20 and 35, with short dark brown hair and was wearing a white T-shirt, hooded cardigan, black pants and black thongs,” she said.
The footage shows the would-be burglar talking on his mobile phone as he approaches house before pulling his hood over his head and trying the door.
He then looks up at the camera with a grin on his face.
