A woman who was approached by a group of youths lurking in a gym carpark in the early hours of the morning said she was very frightened by the incident.
Jo, who didn’t want her last name published, was uninjured but left shaken after the group — a mix of boys and girls — circled her car, pulled open her door and banged on the boot as she tried to flee.
She was driving into the carpark at Narre Warren’s Casey Arc gym at 5.30am on Friday March 22 when about 10 young people surrounded her car.

The frightening incident was caught on her dashcam.
Jo said a young woman, opened her car door and said “what up”. Fearful someone was going to get in, Jo snatched the door back as she drove off.
“I was able to grab the car door, but they managed to thump the back of my car as I began to drive off,” she said.
She said the bumps in the dashcam footage are from the group banging on her car.
Jo said she worked up the courage and drove back to the scene a few moments after the incident to catch the group again on dashcam.
“Unfortunately I couldn’t get them, so I then called the police and reported the incident.
“I decided go into the gym but the shakes kicked in after 10 minutes and three people from the gym then walked me back to my car.”
“I wouldn’t say that I’m traumatised but I’m definitely shaken and I don’t feel safe in the community and it’s sad because I always have,’ she told the Leader.
“I really don’t know if they were out to harm me but they have definitely scared me — they’ve succeeded in that.”
Jo said the group were of African appearance.
Casey CIU detective Senior Constable Samantha Johnson said police were investigating the incident.
“At this stage we’re not treating this as an attempted carjacking as the dashcam footage and her details don’t point to that,” Sen-Constable Johnson said.
