A man with a serious heart condition was savagely attacked as he arrived at Cranbourne Park shopping centre.
Trevor Dunmall, 57, was walking with his mobility trolley in the Coles underground carpark on Sunday, June 7, about 2.25pm, when he was set upon by a thug who appeared to be drug-affected.
His daughter Bec Dunmall said the man asked her father for the time and within seconds attacked him and tried to steal his mobility trolley, which had his wallet and mobile phone in it.
“The guy fought with dad to get his trolley off him and punched him in the face and head, he kept on punching him – at least three to four times, it’s just sickening,” Ms Dunmall said.
“My dad managed to hold on to his trolley and the man then noticed other shoppers around and quickly ran off.
“He was covered in blood and screamed for help and someone called security, the ambulance arrived within minutes and took him to Frankston Hospital.”
Ms Dunmall said her father had sustained injuries including bruising and cuts to his face.
“We were really scared that he had bleeding to the brain, but thankfully the doctor said he’s OK.
“We just can’t believe how much of a coward this man is to do this to someone that’s clearly disabled, it’s so disgusting and we hope he’s caught soon. We’re asking anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward to police.”
