PLANNING for the population boom in Wyndham is firming as the key issue for the new seat of Werribee.
Tim Pallas will stand as Labor’s candidate, having served as the Tarneit state Labor MP since the 2006 election.
Mr Pallas said there was “absolutely no doubt” growth was the key issue in the wider Wyndham area.
He said growth would need to be dealt with responsibly to ensure a “timely delivery” of services and facilities.
“We know that Wyndham is growing at more than 12,000 people a year and how we deal with that growth will determine the future of the community,” Mr Pallas said.

Investment in infrastructure will also be crucial for voters when they go to the polls on November 29.
Mr Pallas pointed to Labor’s education plans for the west, specifically proposed upgrades to Werribee Secondary College and Tarneit P-9 College and new schools at Davis Creek and Point Cook, as to why voters should give him the nod.
Liberal candidate Tarun Singh, a Werribee resident, said his party’s big ticket item — the East-West Link — in the election would ease congestion “all together”.
When asked to name the suburbs included in the electorate, Voice For The West candidate Nhan Hoang Tran only nominated Sunshine, which is not part of the electorate.
When asked why people should vote for him, Mr Tran said: “I really got no idea about this. I’m new here, you know.”
Greens candidate Bro Sheffield-Brotherton and Australian Christians candidate Anne Okumu will also contest the seat.
