Once upon a time, Leader Community News put out a call for Melburnians to share their Book Week photos.
To cut a long story short, we were enthralled by the creative cast of characters that leapt off the page in their fiction-inspired finery.
Whether your crafty kids were planning their costumes for months in advance or you were one of the harried parents hastily throwing together outfits at the last minute, we’ve compiled a gallery of some of the cutest and most imaginative dress-ups.
There were Hogwarts alumni aplenty (including a magical Luna Lovegood), a Cat in a Hat, Fern from Charlotte’s Web, The BFG and a hippopotamus on the roof eating cake.
The Mad Hatter left others in the shade and if you look hard enough you may even spot Wally.
