A paddle boarder has died after being pulled from waters at Phillip Island on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to Shelly Beach, near Summerlands on Phillip Island, about 3.20pm after surfers raised the alarm.
According to police, the surfers noticed the paddle boarder “clinging to his board and drifting in the water”.
“They went to check on the man who was not responsive and brought him back to shore,” a spokesperson said.
One of the surfers started CPR while another called Triple-0.
Ambulance Victoria paramedics arrived and took over but were unable to revive the man.
He has since been identified as a 72-year-old man from Arthurs Creek.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
