A crime scene has been set up outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Melbourne’s east after a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car.

Emergency services have closed off part of Boronia Rd in Wantirna, near the Mountain Highway intersection, following the collision between a rider and a grey Ford car about 3pm.

A white sheet is on the road, along with barriers and the rider’s bike.

Traffic heading down Boronia Rd towards Bayswater has been diverted onto Mountain Highway.

Leader understands a man in his 20s was riding the motorcycle, however the rider is yet to be formally identified.

Police are investigating the scene and officers have been chatting to tradies working on a playground upgrade at the restaurant.

The driver of the Ford was uninjured and is assisting police.

Meanwhile, another motorcyclist was killed after an incident in Geelong.

The motorbike was travelling along Boundary Rd in Charlemont about 10.20am, when the rider lost control and crashed at the roundabout on Horseshoe Bend Rd.

A man died at the scene while a female was flown to hospital in a serious condition.

The two deaths take Victoria’s 2022 road toll to 179, compared to 158 deaths at the same time last year.

Any witnesses or anyone with information or dashcam footage from the incidents can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
