The main driveway at a new VicRoads testing centre in Melbourne’s outer east has been blocked off while crews work to fix a design issue.

The VicRoads Testing and Inspection Centre opened in Heatherdale Rd Ringwood last month,

with the state government saying it marked “the first step in bringing modern and state-of-the-art VicRoads Registration and Licensing Services to the area”.

It caters for up to 600 license tests per week.

But a caller to 3AW’s Rumour File revealed there were issues with the driveway at the centre, with the front bumper bar of cars hitting the road when drivers tried to drive up it.

A Department of Transport spokesperson said work was being planned to rectify an issue with the main driveway.

“Customers are able to access the centre using a second driveway located 50 metres away, on Heatherdale Road,” the spokesperson said.

Traffic management is in place to guide traffic movement while work is happening.

The Department apologised for any inconvenience caused.

No customer appointments have been affected.
