IF you’re not off to celebrate the race that stops a nation tomorrow, you can get your magical equestrian fix in Gruyere instead.

The first Unicorn Spring Carnival is on at Helen & Joey Estate, and was organised around the winery’s giant unicorn mascot Bruce.

Cellar door and events manager Stephen Powell said winery owner Helen Xu had an obsession with unicorns.

Mr Powell said the event was also to celebrate and release the winery’s new Inara Rosé.

He said visitors would receive an Aperol Rosé Spritz on arrival to launch their latest vintage and there would be non-alcoholic drinks and food also available on the day.

“We have some face painting, three-legged unicorn races and pin-the-horn-on-the-unicorn activities for the kids,” Mr Powell said.

He said the Melbourne Cup race would be televised live during the carnival for those who wanted to watch.

So bring your own picnic or book a cheese pack and take a selfie with #brucetheunicorn for social media.

The carnival is $10 for adults and free for children, at 1214 Spring Lane, Gruyere.
