An amazing tribute to Olivia Newton-John has been unveiled at a pub in The Basin.
The Acorn owner Tony Eastwood, who put up a similar tribute to the four police officers killed in the horror Eastern Freeway crash, has revealed a new sign in honour of Newton-John at his pub in Melbourne’s outer east.
It says: “You’re the one that we love. Olivia Newton-John, in our hearts forever.”
The Grammy Award-winning Aussie actor and singer died peacefully at her ranch in Southern California on Monday surrounded by family and friends, aged 73.
Mr Eastwood said he was a huge fan of the star, and admired her work establishing the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre.
“With everything she has given back, (this tribute) is the least I could do,” Mr Eastwood said.
“The Acorn was built on the community, we support a lot of community groups, and we wanted to create a tribute (where people could come and pay their respects to Olivia).”
He said the phone had been ringing off the hook with people praising the sign, with many fans stopping to take photos with it.
“An Australian icon, legend, one of the best and one of a kind,” a tribute on the pub’s Facebook page said.
“You fought a good fight. May you Rest In Peace.”
Kilsyth company MotoSign completed the work and donated the sign to the pub.
The Acorn will hold a tribute to Newton-John on Sunday night from 5pm, where performers will sing some of her hit songs.
