A Mooroolbark house hit by police in a dramatic early morning raid was allegedly a “well known drug den”, several neighbours have said.
A Greenslopes Drive resident, who did not provide her name, said she was woken up by the 5am raid.
“I heard police this morning shouting to ‘come out now’,” she said.
“I thought maybe it’s a drug raid.”
She said there were always people coming and going from the house.
Another neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said he saw police seize two motorbikes from the property at about 7.30am on April 1.
“There’s always problems there,” he said.
“The owner’s nice … but I wouldn’t trust the others (at the property).
“They knock things off (and) the drug coppers know the house well.
“At night cars pull up at the front and hold their arms up to the light so they can inject (heroin).”
When the Herald Sun arrived at the property, the wooden front door had been taken off its hinges and was propped up against the house.
A man at the house, identified as the long-term owner by a neighbour, said he wasn’t there at the time but the people arrested were “drug dealers”.
“I just got home then,” he said.
Police have confirmed five men were arrested at the property but would not reveal the nature of the alleged offences.
