A RINGWOOD service station which has been undergoing repairs since February will re-open late next month.
The Shell Coles Express service station, on Canterbury Rd opposite the Manhattan Hotel, has been surrounded by fencing since February due to pump replacement works.
Sources had told Maroondah Leader the works were more significant than first thought and the site could be closed until after Christmas.
But a spokeswoman for site owner Viva Energy, who declined to be named, said the renovations were set to be completed by the end of July.
The spokeswoman said the service station was undergoing “a significant refurbishment” which included installation of new underground tanks, pumps, a high flow Diesel pump and a new canopy.
“The substantial investment will provide customers with a refreshed service station to buy Shell quality fuels including Premium Diesel and other convenience offerings,” she said.
“We also took the opportunity to complete environmental remediation works at the site as part of our commitment to responsible environmental management.”
The spokeswoman did not reveal the total cost of the refurbishments.
Bernie’s Music Land owner Bernie Capicchiano, whose business is next door to the service station, said the works had been a “small distraction”.
“It’s been a bit dusty and noisy, but we’re glad it’s being done because long term we think it will be beneficial for Canterbury Rd,” he said.
