A SECOND wild deer has been seen in Ringwood, after the first was shot dead in front of school students on Tuesday.
Police were called to 114 Oban Rd at about 10am today after a large deer with antlers was seen running down the street.
Croydon Sergeant Peter Williams said police received four calls about the deer, believed to weigh upwards of 200kg.
“It hit the side of the car (but no one was injured),” he said.
“It’s definitely becoming more and more common to see wildlife in the area and from what I’ve heard, deers are plentiful.
“It can become quite dangerous especially when the larger ones are running around in busy areas.”

The first rogue deer run amok at Norwood Secondary and Mullum Primary yesterday morning, injuring two Year 4 students.
It was later shot by a private animal control company.
Warranwood’s Alan Kiernan believes he saw the same deer two weeks ago on Wonga Rd, Ringwood North.
“I nicknamed him Venison and followed him for a while as he ran through the streets,” Mr Kiernan said.
“He was a large stag with antlers about 18 inches long and he ran through Warranwood Primary School and then went into (parkland) on Wellington Park Drive.
“He definitely scared some people — that’s for sure.”
Parks Victoria said more than 130 deer have been culled in the Yarra Ranges in the past 18 months, including 35 since March.
