Samuel Johnson dished out the hugs and provided a shoulder to cry on during an emotional visit to a Croydon North this afternoon.
Johnson, the Gold Logie-winning actor and cancer prevention crusader, met students from Yarra Road Primary School whose parents are suffering from the disease.
He visited with his charity Love Your Sister to spread the cancer awareness message — and wowed students as he did laps of the school’s gym on his unicycle.
But things really hit home when he was approached by some sobbing youngsters during a presentation. He consoled them and urged the students to get around their mates.
“Her mum is sick, this is why we’ve got to get rid of it,” he told the packed gym.
“Look at the pain it (cancer) causes. We need all the parents, teachers and kids to take care of each other.”

Johnson told Maroondah Leader afterwards his visit was one of the most intense and emotional ones he’s done on his two-year, 700-day, Australia-wide tour.
“This is probably my 200th school and never have I been served a more potent reminder as to why I bother doing what I do,” he said.
“This school community is deeply affected by cancer … there were some kids today that needed a cuddle and I was proud to be there for them for that.
“It really brings everything home about why I’m doing what I do.”
Johnson has raised more than $10 million for cancer research since starting Love Your Sister with his late sister Connie in 2012.
He will be visiting communities around Australia to spread the message until the end of 2020.
But there will be a pit-stop at some point to bare all, with Johnson confirming he’s signed on for the next series of Channel 7’s All New Montyfollowing an earlier Instagram post.
It follows on from his victory in Channel 10’s rebooted Dancing With The Stars this year — and Johnson said he’s still practising his moves.
“I am taking tap-dancing lessons and I may or may not be appearing unofficially in the All New Monty,” he said.
