A thug rained blows on a parking inspector and threatened to kill him after he copped a ticket in the Docklands despite the inspector not being the one who fined him.

Antonio Crea, 64, was given a parking ticket on January 15 this year, and after finding the target, saw a nearby parking inspector handing out fines in the same area.

“F--king take it back,” the court heard Crea yelled at the inspector.

“Take it back or I’ll kill you.”

The inspector pleaded with Crea that he could not take the ticket back as he was not the person who issued it before Crea, of North Carlton, punched the inspector three times, sustaining small cuts on his hand.

Antonio Crea appeared before Ringwood Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.

A passer-by intervened during the assault and Crea left the scene.

Crea pleaded guilty to assault charges in the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The court heard Crea told police he had no recollection of the assault or the death threat due to his anxiety disorder.

However, during a police interview Crea maintained he did not deserve the parking ticket.

“I got booked for no reason, really,” Crea told police.

Crea said he did not deserve the ticket because he held a disability parking permit, however it was unknown whether this was valid at the time of the incident.

Magistrate James Henderson said no person should be assaulted while trying to do their job.

“Parking inspectors must have a terrible time just doing their job,” Mr Henderson said.

Crea was sentenced to a 12-month good behaviour bond.
