If you’re lamenting the temporary demise of Friday night drinks, Healesville’s Innocent Bystander could have the perfect virtual solution.
Self-isolation doesn’t mean going without your favourite drop of heavenly goodness and you can now take the cellar door experience right from the comfort of your own sofa.
Sommelier Margaret will be host six, live weekly tasting sessions on the producer’s Facebook page — it’s the perfect temporary replacement for Friday night drinks.
And it also gives you something to look forward to each week until the coronavirus uncertainly starts to let up.
Like most of the Victorian wine-drinking population Innocent Bystander head Mat Janes and his team believe there isn’t anything a good glass of pinot noir can’t fix.
Mr Janes said Margaret would be going live on Facebook to take wine lovers through the ins and outs of a specific varietal and provide face-to-face tasting notes, side-by-side comparisons with other regions, food pairings and just general demystification of the wide world of wine.

“Oh, and Margaret will be happy to have a tipple with those tuning in home alone,” he said.
Mr Janes said in preparation wine lovers could buy the producer’s wine varietals through their online shop at 20 per cent off with free shipping – “a small gesture to those wanting to enjoy a wine tasting in the comfort of their own home”.
He said his team was also launching an online takeaway menu, which would allow wine drinkers to enjoy the whole Innocent Bystander experience while self isolating.
