Nivin Sathyajith pleads not guilty at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court to child sexual abuse charges
A “semi-professional” Melbourne cricketer who once played in the UK and Victoria’s top-flight cricket competition will face trial over allegations of child sexual offending.

An international cricketer and Juris Doctor candidate will face trial on charges of child sexual offending.
Nivin Sathyajith, 23, pleaded not guilty at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court to allegations of “serious offending against a child” in February 2023.
Mr Sathyajith, who spruiks himself as a “semi-pro cricketer”, previously played for Cranbourne Cricket Club and Victorian Premier Cricket with the Kingston Hawthorn Cricket Club where he distinguished himself as a rising star.
In 2022 he was named Most Valuable Player and Best Batsman of the Victorian Sunday Cricket Association competition before heading to the UK where he played professionally for Preston Cricket Club in Hertfordshire.
The court previously heard the former Clyde North man had moved to Darra, a southwestern suburb of Brisbane to work in a “graduate position”.
It is understood Mr Sathyajith, who studied a Juris Doctor – a Doctor of Law – at Monash University in 2023 has been working for Queensland Rail as an accountant since February 2024.
Mr Sathyajith was directed to stand trial at Melbourne County Court on August 5.
