STREET art has been used to express the Anzac spirit and at the same time, transform a neglected part of Ringwood.
Wandin North artist Brad Colling, who has created street art for 20 years, was commissioned by the Ringwood RSL to complete an Anzac mural under the Wantirna Rd railway bridge.
It depicts an Anzac soldier, a sailor, an airman and a nurse standing in front of the rising sun badge.
“I feel honoured to have been asked to do this mural as a tribute to all those who have served our country,” Colling said.
“Pictures from the wars are usually black and white so I wanted to paint this mural with colour and part of the brief from the RSL was for it to be ‘street art’.”
Ringwood RSL special events officer Kas McCormack-Smith said the art had received an abundance of positive feedback.
“You have to see it to believe it, it’s fantastic,” Ms McCormack-Smith said.
“People have been talking about how good it is.”
The $1000 project funded by the RSL was started in February and will be completed in time for Saturday’s Anzac ceremonies.
“It commemorates the soldiers, male and female, who served their country and helped to keep Australia a safer place.”
