Mooroolbark level crossing: Man flown to hospital after Brice Ave incident

A man has been flown to hospital with lower body injuries after an incident at the Mooroolbark level crossing removal site.

The worker was injured in an incident involving construction equipment at the Brice Ave site about 12pm, Friday September 17.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said a man in his 50s was flown by air ambulance to the Alfred Hospital in a serious condition with lower body injuries.

In a statement, the Level Crossing Removal Project said the incident took place in the Brice Ave service lane about 150m from Manchester Rd.

“Works at this site have stopped temporarily, and an assessment is underway, which will determine when works can safely resume,” it said.

“The safety of our crews and the community is our number one priority. Our focus right now is supporting the worker, their family and colleagues.

“WorkSafe has been contacted and investigations into this incident have commenced.”

A WorkSafe Victoria spokeswoman confirmed it was making inquires into the incident.
