Maroondah hairdressers: Croydon’s Teezers Hair wins Leader’s Best Of poll

She’s been at the same spot for 24 years, and now this Croydon hairdresser and her team have been voted Maroondah’s favourites.

A laid-back salon at a small Croydon shopping centre has been named by Leader readers as their favourite in Maroondah.

Teezers Hair at Croydon’s Civic Square shopping centre has won Maroondah’s Leader’s Best Hairdresser for 2021 poll from a field of 16 nominations.

The salon is co-owned by Kasey Gibbons and Katie Moss, and its team also includes hairdressers Carla Barrott, Belinda McNamara and Mim Holly.

Ms Gibbons’ dog Arnie, which she named after the centre’s commonly known name of the Arndale shops, also sniffs around the salon to greet visitors.

Ms Gibbons said the poll win was a huge boost for her and the team following the ongoing impact and lockdowns from the coronavirus pandemic.

She has worked at the salon for 24 years and took it over with Ms Moss in a new spot at the centre in February 2020, just before Covid-19 emerged.

“It has made our day, we’re just overwhelmed,” Ms Gibbons said.

“We literally couldn’t have done this without our clients, they are what has got us through … everyone is so supportive.”

Ms Gibbons said the salon had a tight-knit team and prided itself on providing a relaxing atmosphere.

“We’re a really chilled, laid-back salon with a good environment and decent prices,” she said.

“We do our best at what we do … and we’re super able to say we’ve won this.”
