PUPPY love is alive in the Yarra Valley, with every dog having its day in the park.
Lilydale & Yarra Valley Leader had a massive reaction to its Facebook post asking readers to nominate their favourite places to walk their pooch.
One of the top places was Lillydale Lake, with plenty of proud dog owners sharing their gorgeous photos of their best buddies playing in the water and rollicking in the grass.
Lorraine O’Connell said the lake’s off-lead area was a great place for her groodle Nemo to run through the mud and then splash through the creek.
“A true haven and gem of a place for doggies plus owners,” Ms O’Connell said.
Others recommended the Warburton and Aqueduct trails, Silvan Rd in Mt Evelyn, Margaret Lewis Reserve in Coldstream, and other parks in Yarra Glen and Healesville.
Reader Chloe Barkwith said: “My dogs and I absolutely love walking around Lillydale Lake, Olinda Creek wetlands and the Warburton Trail.”
Lilydale mum Angela Fenech said her favourite walk with her dog Lucy was their local streets in the Gateway Estate.
“We always stop at a couple of playgrounds along the way for the kids and our dog to stretch her legs a bit,” Ms Fenech said.
“She doesn’t last long though as she is quite small.”
Maree Welsh said she loved to take her labrador pup Natoby along the Warburton Trail and up to the Seville Carriage Cafe.
“We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world,” Ms Welsh said.
Debby Cheeseman, who has a Jack Russell Sammy with his own Facebook page — said her dog loved a stroll down River St in Healesville.

OUR READERS SHARE THEIR FAVOURITE SPOTS
Angela Fenech: My favourite walk with my dog would just be our local streets in the Lilydale Gateway Estate. And we always stop at a couple of playgrounds along the way for the kids and our dog to stretch her legs a bit. She doesn’t last long though as she is quite small.
Mikaela Jago: Definitely the Warby trail. Just beautiful.
Cameron Noy: Best place is Margaret Lewis Reserve, Coldstream as it’s mostly fenced off and you can let your dogs run off lead. Big open areas and a good walking track.
Dylan James: My little pooch loves a walk around Wandana Reserve, next to Manchester Primary School.
Kelly Corrie: My doggies love to go over to my parents’ house in Don Valley and we walk down to their river and swim. My border collie loves chasing the cows around and being free.
Nicole Poulton: Chirnside Park wetlands (near Kimberley Reserve — in non-snake season).
Barbara Joy: We love the walking trail in Yarra Junction. Finishing with some water play on hot days.
Kylie Fall: My dog loves walking along the Yarra River in Warburton and having a swim in the river.
Debby Cheeseman: Sammy Cheeseman said yes please! Walking around the block down River St, Healesville is his favourite. He actually has his own Facebook page. He is a six-year-old Jack Russell that thinks he is a human.
Sharon Stanton: Lillydale Lake is one of AJ’s favourite places for walking on-lead or for off-lead fun we go to Hughes Park in the cricket nets. We can’t wait for the new secure dog park at Chirnside Park
Susan Taylor: Lillydale Lake. A lap then stop at the dog park for a play and swim.
Jacqui Just: Liverpool Rd Retarding Basin
Reen Lidden: The river walk circuit in Warburton and you must add a dip if the weather is warm.
Maree Welsh: We live in Seville and love taking our crazy pup along the Warburton Trail up to the Carriage Cafe. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.
Lorraine O’Connell: A favourite place to run through the mud and then wash it off in the water while meeting new doggie friends is Lillydale Lake off-lead area. A true haven and gem of a place for doggies plus owners.
Melinda McLeod: Along the Warburton Trail, stopping at the Carriage Cafe in Seville for a coffee and doggie snack for Zephyr and Lily.
Nicole Andrew: The old Olinda golf course. Our doggies love running crazy in the hills.
