A man is in custody after being arrested in Scoresby following a police chase of a different kind across Melbourne’s outer east.
Officers in a Victoria Police plane kept a keen eye on the man from above after detectives in an unmarked police car spotted the driver in an allegedly stolen Maloo ute on EastLink in Ringwood about 12.20pm.
Highway patrol Sergeant Mick Aston said the man was allegedly driving erratically on the freeway and was followed by the air wing until the man took the Ferntree Gully exit.
Sgt Aston said a police helicopter soon took over surveillance and monitored the car to a Grayson Drive, Scoresby address.
He said the man was arrested a short time later and is helping police with their inquiries.
