Santa is bringing something other than Christmas spirit this festive season — the chance for fine dodgers to return to the library
For those who are not able to borrow library books because they’ve racked up fines, the big man in red — with the help of Eastern Regional Libraries — is waiving the penalties throughout December.
ERL and all three co-operating councils have declared an amnesty on fines through the festive month at all libraries in Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges.
ERL chief executive Joseph Cullen said Santa had come to the rescue for borrowers with outstanding fines.
“We really believe that everyone should read again, without having the worry of old fines preventing them from visiting the library,” Mr Cullen said.
