After more than two decades doing what she loves, hairdresser Melinda Turner says her job is still her passion.
It’s not just the hair styling at A’Blaze Hair Artistry she loves, but the businesswoman’s dedicated and long-serving team and loyal clients, who are her community.
The Knoxfield salon has been voted the best hairdresser in Knox by Leader readers – but it’s something clients already know.
Ms Turner and her crew recently celebrated the salon’s 24th birthday, which despite the COVID lockdown, is still going strong.
“It’s been a tough year for everyone,” she said.
“But we’ve been flat out since we’ve been back open and I’ve been working seven days.”
Ms Turner said her team had been amazing throughout the lockdown and everyone had worked hard to keep the business running while they couldn’t be in the salon.
“I have an amazing team. It’s about having a strong committed team,” she said.
“A massive thank you as well to our client base who have supported us and especially through lockdown.
“We really felt the love.”
She said one of the things she loved about running her business and the job was mentoring and growing young stylists.
“Growing my amazing team of successful stylists has been an absolute joy,” she said.
“To help each and every one of them on their journey and opportunity to use and take their skills everywhere and anywhere.”
But the boss still loves working on the floor and said after decades in the craft, she continues her passion for cutting and creative styling – hair-ups.
“I have great customer relationships. I’ve seen births, starting school, graduations, debs, engagements, weddings.
“I’ve have the privilege of being part of many special occasions.”
