Knox City Shopping Centre redevelopment: newsXpress Knox, Funtopia Knox closing

Customers are disappointed after two well-known businesses announced they are leaving Knox, with the centre’s food court almost completely deserted.

newXpress has announced it is closing at Westfield Knox.

Two popular businesses have announced they are closing at Westfield Knox, leaving customers disappointed.

Newsagency and gift store newsXpress Knox, located near The Reject Shop, has announced it is leaving the centre in the coming weeks, and selling most of its stock at half price.

Customers have flooded the store’s Facebook page, saying they will miss the kind staff and shopping for Hallmark decorations, cards, and Beanie Kids.

“So long, farewell. newsXpress Knox will be leaving Westfield Knox in a few weeks, forever. “Now, everything is half price, except for papers, magazines and coins. Yes, even our awesome Christmas stock is half price,” the store posted online.

Popular kids’ play centre Funtopia has also announced it is closing in Knox Ozone.

“It is with a heavy heart, due to the current ongoing Westfield developments, we are unable to operate at this time and from this location,” the centre posted on Facebook.

“Those who currently have bookings with us are being contacted, and we will be processing all refunds. Please be patient with us as we handle these bookings.”

Several big names have also closed in the Westfield Knox food court, including Muffin Break and KFC, as work continues on the centre’s $355m redevelopment, which includes “a refreshed and relocated food court”.

Only Hungry Jacks, Soul Origin, and Phantom India remain open in the current food court.
