A popular clothing store is the latest in a string of retailers to leave Knox Shopping Centre.

Aussie retail crisis: Can 2021 save the industry?

Country Road has become the latest retailer to shut at Westfield Knox.

The popular clothing store closed on Sunday, June 13, in line with the company’s

“retail network strategy”.

Country Road managing director Elle Roseby said all team members impacted by the closure would be redeployed to nearby stores.

“We look forward to welcoming our customers to Doncaster, Eastland and David Jones, The Glen, as well as our online store,” Ms Roseby said.

“We’d like to thank our loyal community for supporting us at Knox.”

It comes as Myer at Knox prepares to shut its doors on July 25, ahead of the long-awaited redevelopment of the centre.

Westfield Knox owner Scentre Group has revealed Woolworths is set to replace Myer, with plans for the supermarket to open on level one of the current Myer store.

Scentre Group’s director of development Stewart White previously told Leader the new Woolworths would anchor a new fresh food market and a new food catering concept, also on level 1 of the centre.

In recent years a number of retailers have shut at Knox including Harvey Norman, T2 Tea, healthcare group Bupa and McDonald’s, along with the Irish pub at Knox Ozone.
