Irish men posing as house repairers arrested in Ferntree Gully
Three Irish men posing as house repairers have been arrested in Ferntree Gully after allegedly trying to scam a former victim for more money. The men could now be deported.

Three Irish men could be deported after they were arrested for allegedly scamming a Ferntree Gully woman for roof repairs.
Knox detective Sergeant Daniel Taylor said officers swooped on the three men outside the 63-year-old woman’s home on June 7 after she alerted police.
Sgt Taylor said police suspected the men were part of an international crime syndicate and posed as Housing Industry Association representatives.
He said the trio allegedly scammed the victim $34,000 for roof repairs in 2016 and had returned to her house.
Sgt Taylor said the men offered the woman envelopes filled with fake notes for further payments.

He said the three men, aged 18, 22 and 23, were charged with obtaining property by deception and possessing counterfeit currency
They were remanded in custody and will face Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on July 18.
Sgt Taylor said Australian Border Force officers were investigating the three men’s eligibility to be in Australia.
