THE Anzac spirit will be heard and seen in Heathmont’s centenary commemorations.
The “Songs of the World War Years – Anzac Centenary” concert takes place on Sunday at Heathmont Uniting Church from 2pm.
Heathmont Uniting Church Community Lifestyle Centre convener Gerry Robinson said the concert would provide an opportunity for people to pay tribute to those who fought and died in war service.
“It is not a celebration of war, it’s a tribute to people who were involved at home and abroad in the war efforts,” Mr Robinson said.
The ceremony will hear from Legends of Brass, a 40-piece band that will play nearly 50 songs dating back to World War I.
Mr Robinson said he expected up to 250 people to attend the event.
Also on show at the concert will be 500 poppies that were made by the Heathmont community.
“They will be displayed during the concert and will later be sent to the Australian War Museum,” Mr Robinson said.
