The owner of a Melbourne equestrian centre that was recently destroyed in a fire allegedly assaulted and threatened to kill a woman, a court has heard.
Feydy Hayek, also known as Fred, appeared before the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court and applied for bail on Wednesday after he was arrested and charged last week with assault, criminal damage and breaching court orders.
The charges relate to incidents in January and March where the Wandin North man allegedly smashed several car windows with a wooden stake — only stopping when the stake broke — and assaulted a woman.
The court was shown a video where he allegedly grabbed a woman out of a car and slammed her to the ground on January 23.
A male voice could be heard yelling “you’re going to f — king die”.
Some of the incidents allegedly occurred at Mr Hayek’s home, which sits on the same property as the Glenbrae Equestrian Centre on Melbourne’s outer eastern fringe.
Mr Hayek asked to be bailed so he could begin repairs on his property after a fire ravaged his stables last week.
The wild night-time blaze destroyed the horse stables along with saddles, bridles, rugs and riding gear for the horses.
No horses were injured during the blaze.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and a police investigation into the fire remains ongoing.
No charges have been laid in relation to the blaze.
Mr Hayek’s abruptly left court during his bail hearing, telling jail officers he “Didn't want to be there”.
His bail application was adjourned until May 2.
