Gladysdale Bakehouse: Lilydale, Yarra Valley best bakery revealed

The team at this popular Yarra Valley bakery showcase their wares on social media, and the locals just love it.

Gladysdale Bakehouse has been named the best bakery in the Lilydale and Yarra Valley area.

The team are very active on social media and are constantly interacting with their local community using the hashtag #NotYourAverageBakery to highlight new menu items and instore events.

Husband and wife due Jason and Melanie Rush have owned the bakehouse for 14 years.

Gladysdale Bakehouse owner Jason Rush said it was the classic flavours that kept locals coming back for more.

“We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel; we’re just doing good wholesome, tasty fresh food.” he said.

“We have nice slices and pies and we’re keeping the flavours simple.

“It’s just all fresh and tasty.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic the bakery supplied locals with their favourite meals through a pick-up service, now with restrictions eased they have never been so busy.

“We’ve never seen what was seen in the last four months in the Yarra Valley, it’s been amazing and the people we’re seeing out here it’s just been incredible,” Mr Rush said.

“Our staff have being doing a fantastic job.”

Have a pie or some lunch on the veranda out the back and enjoy the incredible view.

The Gladysdale Bakehouse is open 6am to 3pm Monday to Friday; 6am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday.
