Emergency services are searching for a missing person in Yarra River near Cement Creek Rd in East Warburton

A search and rescue is underway in the Yarra River after a person fell into the water near Warburton.

Authorities are searching for a person who has gotten into trouble in the Yarra on the eastern outskirts of Melbourne.

Emergency services were called to Cement Creek Rd and Woods Point Rd in East Warburton after a man fell off a log in the Yarra River about 2.50pm on Wednesday.

Police are told the man was with a friend when he fell off a log and fell into the river.

Crews from SES Warburton unit and Victoria police are searching for the missing man.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics are also on the scene.
