The game lasted just 65 minutes.
Heinz Southern Districts kicked off the Dandenong District T20 competition with an eyebrow-raising 10-wicket win over Hampton Park.
Bowling first, the Cobras castled the Redbacks for just 26 and chased the misally total down in 3.2 overs with all 10 wickets in hand.
The entire match lasted just 14 overs.
Like many, club president Andy Dandridge looked on in disbelief.
“I don’t know… the first over they didn’t seem to hit bat on ball and then they just crumbled,” he said.
“It’s pretty astonishing isn’t it?
“Especially in a T20 comp, you don’t see it every day, that’s First XI cricket… 9:30 on a Sunday morning, you don’t expect for that to happen straight up.
“It’s just crazy.”
It wasn’t a flash in the pan for either.
After sitting through a bye for the second match of the round-robin fixture, the Cobras then rolled Cranbourne for just 67 as well to improve their daily total to 20-93.
While understanding the level of commitment shown towards the competition, Dandridge hopes the group has gained confidence from the strong outing.
“I don’t know how many teams go into the first round of the T20’s come in thinking ‘yeah, we’re here to win’, I think a few take it mickey mouse,” he said.
“We went in looking at the group knowing we’re a good chance to win, so we wanted to make the most of it.
“When you take 20-90, you’re pretty happy with it, they have to take some confidence out of it.”
The Cobras were one of seven teams to record two wins on Sunday.
Springvale South, North Dandenong, Fountain Gate, Narre South, Berwick Springs and St Mary’s also won both mates.
