A university student has slammed the ‘disgusting’ behaviour of a vandal who defaced her car with black permanent marker while it was parked near a busy train station.
Rowville’s Dana Brown, 20, parked in a grass area in Alpine St behind the shops near Ferntree Gully station on Monday because the station carpark was full.
After spending the day at uni in the city she returned at 7pm to find someone had written ‘private parking only’ on her car’s side mirrors, doors, boot, and on her windscreen on top of her P-plate.
“I was a bit shocked that someone would do that,” Ms Brown said.
“I think they may be a bit annoyed because some parking near the station has been blocked off, so they’re getting more people parking in this grass land.
“But it’s not my fault, it was the first time I have done it, and if they had just put a note under my windscreen I wouldn’t have parked there again.

“This is disgusting behaviour.”
Ms Brown said there were lots of other cars parked in the same area, but hers was the only one vandalised. She said she was not parked on private property and was not blocking any exit or entry points.
She said there were ‘no parking’ signs on a building nearby and near the concreted section of the parking lot.
“But I was parked on the grassed area and I wasn’t parked against the building,” she said.
Ms Brown said she had reversed and parked next to another car.
“I didn’t think I was doing anything wrong.”
She managed to scrub the writing off her car using a special cleaning product.
Ms Brown said a gravel area where commuters used to park had recently been closed off, which made it even harder to find a park in the area.
“The parking around (the station) is terrible I ended up having to drive to uni (on Tuesday) because I couldn’t find a park.”
Knox Leader understands the gravel area recently closed off to parking and the grass area where Ms Brown’s car was vandalised is not Metro Trains land.
The Federal Government recently announced it would spend $15 million building a three-level carpark at the station, creating 500 new spaces.
Rowville police are investigating the incident.
