A group of youths allegedly threatened a teenager with a taser near Croydon railway station before stealing his necklace and jacket.
Croydon police Sergeant Scott McLean said the incident happened at 5.40pm on Monday when the 18-year-old was walking home from the station.
Sgt McLean said the teen was approached by the youths on Gallipoli Pde and asked if he had any money.
The teen told the group he had no cash on him, and Sgt McLean said one of the youths then allegedly pulled out a taser and aimed it at him.
The group then allegedly ripped the necklace off the teen and took his jacket before walking off.
Sgt McLean said the incident was “very distressing” for the victim.
“Unfortunately these things (tasers) are easily obtained over the internet,” Sgt McLean said.
“We are very interested in catching up with anyone displaying these weapons.”
Sgt McLean said the alleged taser holder was described as a male, aged 18 or 19, wearing a grey hoodie, 182cm with a muscular build.
