CROYDON state Liberal MP David Hodgett has thrown his support behind calls for a raft of safety upgrades at Croydon railway station.
Mr Hodgett advocated for upgrades in State Parliament last week following the death of a 61-year-old Kilysth woman on July 20.
The woman was hit by a bus while walking on a pedestrian crossing on Pierson Drive just after 6am and died a short time later.

In a statement to Maroondah Leader, Mr Hodgett said the station’s carpark and surrounds were “in urgent need of an upgrade”.
“I fully support any initiatives to make this area safer for all users, including pedestrians, commuters and drivers,” he said.
“A combination of increased lighting, footpath upgrades and better pedestrian access between the station and Main St, as well as traffic calming devices such as raised pavements and chicanes, must all be considered.”
Mr Hodgett described the station’s shared areas as “a confusing mix of crossings, roads, car parks and bus stops.”
“It is clear that the area needs a more defined separation between pedestrians and vehicles,” he said.
“I will give my support on behalf of the Croydon community for funding for the station surrounds and car park to tackle these problems and increase safety and accessibility for all who use this area.”
Public Transport Victoria chief executive Jeroen Weimar said safety was the organisation’s “number one priority” and they were working with Victoria Police on their investigations.
Mr Weimar said the organisation welcomed any recommendations and would work through them in due course.
Maroondah councillor Mike Symon sent the council’s condolences but did not comment further as the incident was under police investigation.
Victoria Police’s major collision investigation unit are continuing to investigate the July 20 incident.
