A Mooroolbark man has been fined after he was caught out of the 5km zone – in Mansfield – claiming he was “picking up a friend”.
The man received one of 184 fines to handed out across Victoria for breaching Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton’s directions during Stage 4 restrictions.
Last week a 41-year-old woman was arrested at the Coldstream roadblock on Maroondah Highway after failing to complete an oral fluid test and then allegedly assaulting the officer about 8.45am on Tuesday, August 4.

So far Yarra Ranges has registered the highest amount of active coronavirus cases across Melbourne’s east.
As of Wednesday, there were 131 active cases in the region, bringing the overall number of people who have been infected since the beginning of the pandemic to 210.
The state saw an increase of 410 overnight, which brings Victoria’s overall number of active cases to 7877.
The numbers in neighbouring municipalities include Knox at 70, Maroondah at 42, Manningham at 68, Whitehorse at 77, and Monash at 85.
This comes as Premier Daniel Andrews announced a State of Disaster across Victoria with Stage 4 lockdown in place across metropolitan Melbourne.
A curfew between 8pm and 5am is part of the tightened restrictions, with everyone told to stay at home unless heading out for shopping, one hour of exercise, medical or.
Police are out in force making sure everyone stay within 5km radius of home – or has a good excuse to make them exempt.
