A good Samaritan has been dubbed “a saviour in our craptastrophe” after they put toilet rolls in letterboxes in a an eastern suburbs street.
Residents in Dickasons Rd in Heathmont found the ‘luxury’ gift stuffed inside their letterboxes with a friendly note, taking to social media to share their joy.
The random act of kindness comes as the hottest item of the coronavirus outbreak continues to fly off supermarket shelves.
Dickasons Rd resident Ryan Purdie said he found his present when he went to collect his mail on Thursday.
He said the gift was much needed as he and his family’s supplies were low.
“I had found some the week before and only had a few rolls left,” he said.
“Everyone’s rushing and stockpiling, and something as little as that puts a smile on your face.
“It’s obviously a really nice gesture in the tough times we are in at the moment.”
The good Samaritan was also praised by followers on the Meanwhile In Heathmont Facebook page.
Mark Edmonds described the unknown hero as “a saviour in our craptastrophe” while Debbie Oakey said the gift helped her elderly parents who also live in the street.
“They are in their 80s, so much appreciated. Thank you,” she wrote.
