Animal Aid is running the Charity Poker Run, which combines a picturesque drive through the Yarra Valley with the popular competitive card game on March 17.

The Coldstream shelter is hosting a travelling poker game that invites players to drive the 200km course, collecting playing cards along the way.

Animal Aid community engagement manager Elle Ammann said the event would start and finish in Coldstream with contestants collecting playing cards at three designated stops.

“When they reach the finish line the player with the best poker hand will win a prize valued at over $500,” Ms Ammann said.

“The event is geared toward motorcyclists but we would love for anyone with a vehicle to join in the fun.”

She said the event was a great — and unique — way for people to care for and help animals.
