Leaping, jumping and bounding is a dog’s favourite thing to do and a Coldstream shelter is about to make every mutt’s dream come true.
Animal Aid is hosting Adventure Dog — A Cross Country Challenge to help raise money to care for animals at its Yarra Valley shelter.
The 25-obstacle event is spread across 4km and will both physically and mentally challenge dogs and their owners at the Wandin Park Equestrian Centre on April 5.
Last year’s challenge successfully raised more than $59,000 for homeless animals.
Animal Aid chief executive Mark Menze said the course was designed for dogs that love getting out and about, leaping and bounding, wading through water and muddy meadows.
“Picture Tough Mudder with your dog,” Mr Menze said.
“You will venture over the hills, under the logs, through the mud, you will enter the bush and into the water, all while enjoying the views across the Yarra Valley and Mt Donna Buang.”
He said friends and family were welcome to come along on the day to lend their support.

“After completing the challenge, you and your four-legged friend will have a chance to rejoin your supporters and refuel with plenty of food and drink on offer in the event village,” Mr Menze said.
He encouraged participants to raise $250 and teams to help homeless and sick animals.
“Those who accept the challenge and reach their fundraising goal, will join the ranks of our fundraising heroes and will receive a specially commissioned Adventure Dog – A Cross Country Challenge T-shirt,” Mr Menze said.
