Kind-hearted strangers are being praised for rushing to the aid of a man involved in a Healesville smash on Saturday.
The passers-by removed the man from his car and performed CPR until emergency services arrived.
Tragically the Buxton man, 51, died at the scene.
One of the first people to arrive at the Maroondah Highway crash said those who helped were “kind hearted people who all did their best”.
“He was loved and I would want my loved ones to be given every chance too,” the woman posted on social media.
Grateful locals thanked her for her efforts: “The world needs more helpers like you and the others who jumped in. I hope you are OK after what you experienced,” a woman posted.
Police said it was believed the man’s car hit a tree and rolled, coming to a stop on its roof about 3.15pm.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations remained ongoing.
The man’s death has taken Victoria’s 2022 road toll to 141 deaths, 17 more than at the same time last year.
