Situated at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, La Lupa Romana Ristorante and Pizzeria has been a local favourite for almost nine years.

Wandin North husband and wife duo Giamal Ghosheh and Linda Williams opened the restaurant in 2012 and haven’t looked back.

The pair both grew up in Italy, with Mr Ghosheh growing up 15 minutes from The Vatican.

Most weekends the 60-seat dining area is booked out with many regulars trusting Mr Ghosheh to create something delicious for them.

“They trust me and they ask, ‘What can I have tonight?” he said.

“I make for them what they love.”

He said providing true hospitality was why many customers keep coming back.

“We create a good experience to make people feel comfortable,” Mr Ghosheh said.

All pizza and pasta is made by hand to keep the authentic European flavour.

He said the dough was hand made through ball to final products over three days to ensure the right amount of air created a fluffy but crunchy texture.

The La Lupa Romana team cooks with seasonal produce and recreates the menu every three months.

And the traditional Roman dishes – Carbonara and Amatriciana – prove to be favourites among patrons, who come from far and wide to eat Mr Ghosheh’s cuisine.
