The tireless dedication of Whittlesea’s SES unit has been recognised at a state level.
Late last month, the 60-person unit was awarded the Values Award at the 2019 SES Central Region Awards.
Whittlesea SES unit controller Gary Doorbar said he was “extremely proud” of the unit for showing values including team spirit and safe practices.
Mr Doorbar was also recognised for 10 years of SES service, while Natasha Bradley and Adam Doorbar were recognised for their efforts over five years to Whittlesea residents in need.
Gary Doorbar said he moved from the Broadmeadows SES to Whittlesea about six years ago and his passion for the voluntary role had only increased.
“Everyone in Whittlesea gets behind the emergency services and volunteers,” he said.
“It is a great community to be a part of.”
