A South Morang woman has been shattered by news she only has about 12 months to live after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

But the stark prognosis has not scared Paige Rowe, instead inspiring the 24-year-old to fulfil her lifelong dream and act as a role model for others battling cancer.

The Whittlesea community is now rallying to help her, raising $13,000 so far so Paige can travel to the UK and visit the locations of all her favourite films and books.

“I just want to give a massive thank you to everyone involved in helping me — the whole input has been amazing and lifted my spirits so much,” she said.

“It’s so tough hearing your life will be cut short, but you just have to keep going and savour every moment.

“There is no other option but to stay positive.”

Mother Debra Rowe said her daughter’s strength was inspirational.

“The family is absolutely devastated by all of this,” Ms Rowe said.

“But Paige’s positive attitude makes it a bit easier for everyone around her.

“For what she has already been through in her young life it’s incredible to see her this positive.”

Paige was “accidentally diagnosed” with brain cancer when she was 18 years old.

Doctors found the tumor when she was rushed to hospital after suffering a concussion during a local football game.

She has since undergone seven brain surgeries and multiple rounds of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Paige was then free of the cancer, but was dealt another cruel blow just six weeks out from graduating from her nursing degree late last year.

Doctors removed yet another tumour, but it was too late, and the cancer had been upgraded to stage four Glioblastoma Multiforme.

An online auction will run from 7pm on January 16 until 8pm on January 19 to help raise money for Paige.
